OUR PHILOSOPHY

Kiyojute Ryu Kempo Bugei welcomes those who seek to learn traditional martial arts within a framework of strong ethical values.

Like all authentic martial arts traditions, we teach fighting techniques while fostering a peaceful philosophy. Central to our practice is the principle of Kiyojute. This principle emphasizes the cultivation of a positive spirit and gentleness toward others.

Our system is informed by the Christian perspective of Soke William Durbin, who believes in the transformative power of martial arts to develop character and promote spiritual growth in all faiths. We accept students of all beliefs and backgrounds, embrace diversity and inclusivity, and encourage our students to see the martial arts as a path toward self-improvement and personal growth.
